Memories of the School

"I have a very vivid memory of the canteen. It was right on the west side of the cloister (…). I remember perfectly that at the time we ate a lot of beans and chickpeas, and the chickpeas were really hard. It was incredible.
I also remember that, back then, during the Estado Novo period (…), there was cod liver oil. It was a very good vitamin for our health, it nourished us, but it was awful, I confess. I can still taste it today. It was really horrible. Before lunch at the canteen, we were forced to take a spoonful of cod liver oil."

Joaquim João, took the 4th-grade exam in 1968 at the Convent and was a regular at the school canteen there.
