In May, architect Tiago Giovanini Sobral joined the CONVENTUS team as a doctoral student.
Architect Tiago Sobral holds a degree in Architecture and a Master’s in Management and Valorization of Historical and Cultural Heritage from the University of Évora. He is currently developing his doctoral thesis in Architecture at the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Science and Technology, University of Coimbra. His thesis is entitled “The Construction of a Female Monastic-Conventual City in Évora (16th–18th centuries): Gender, Discipline, and Power,” supervised by Professor Rui Lobo and Professor Catarina Almeida Marado. He has been awarded a doctoral scholarship by the FCT (ref. 2022.14029.BD).

Tiago Sobral’s participation in our project, integrated into Line 1, will focus on the analysis of the architectural transformations that the building of the former Convent of São José in Lagoa has undergone over time, as well as on producing corresponding graphic materials, in collaboration with the rest of the team.
