Presentation of the CONVENTUS Project to the Local Community and Invitation to Participate
21/11/2023
Centro Cultural, Convento de São José, Lagoa

The CONVENTUS project aims to study the history of the Convent of Saint Joseph in Lagoa, in order to understand its origins, functions, and various uses over time, as well as its meanings and values for the local population. Initially established as a female religious house, the building took on several other roles after secularization, serving as a primary school, the Lagoa parish headquarters, a post of the National Republican Guard (GNR), the Civil Registry Office, and the Lagoa Parish Council. Since 1993, it has functioned as a Cultural Center.

The CONVENTUS team invited all members of the local community who wished to share their experiences and memories of this building to join us on November 21, 2023, at 2:30 PM in the multipurpose room of the Convent of Saint Joseph. During this meeting, we presented the work plan, gathered input from all attendees, and welcomed everyone interested in becoming part of our team.
