Networks

Line 3 of the CONVENTUS Project focuses on networked experiences. In this line, we identified the convents currently existing on the Iberian Peninsula (2024) and analyzed the ongoing cultural projects in each of these properties, with the aim of studying the similarities and differences in relation to their history and their conversion into buildings with cultural character and function.

The approach of Line 3 will enable the activation of bidirectional contact and knowledge networks, extending to regional, national, and transnational levels. In the latter case, attention is focused on the Iberian context and the relationships between the Portuguese and Spanish cases, including their respective islands.

This initial mapping lays the foundation for a theoretical and methodological analysis that will allow for a reconsideration of the social and cultural function of these buildings and, more specifically, of the former Convent of Saint Joseph in Lagoa. Subsequently, we will develop different lines of comparative research linked to the situated knowledge emerging from each case.
